What is a climbing coach?

A climbing coach, is the person in charge of the planning a workout with the clear aim of getting the athlete to get improve your weaknesses and know how to use and enhance their qualities in the necessary time to make the most.

To be a climbing coach, It requires a good knowledge of climbing; you have to know the human anatomy, training bases, million years ... And above all, know the amazing sport of climbing first hand and if all this, we can add that has been an elite athlete or champion of the world, Even better.

 

An elite climber, He is a good coach?

It not for being one of the best athletes in the world has to be the best or a good coach. You can sometimes make the mistake of idealizing an athlete for his great career and thereby, think that is the right person to coach, but often, this ideal is not reality, because having the title of coach is more than just making a high degree of escalation, are years of study and knowledge from different disciplines.

It is important to be clear about the difference between being a good sport and have genetically good conditions for the sport practiced, training and know. It is true that many climbers have been trained by professionals in training, but the method of training that they worked for them, does not mean that works with others. Each person is unique in his physical, his qualities as an athlete…So a personalized training is needed and that suits the needs of each.

What training needs a climbing coach?

Theoretically, the Ministry of Education, He created the sports training of technical climbing, the only title that enables today, to practice the profession legally in all areas of climbing (training, guiajes, training…).

In order to pursue these studies, First you must pass a physical test.

  • Anatomical and physiological bases of sport (60h)

  • Sports training (70h)
  • Specific training climbing (50h)
  • Sport hygiene and first aid (35h)
  • Climbing equipment installations (45h)
  • Basic computer science applied to sport (10h)
  • Psychology of sport climbing (10h)
  • Terminology (15h)
  • Teaching and group dynamics (20h)

And finally, nail 350 practical hours.

With all this, We have 315 hours of study 100% legal and accredited.

On a practical level, all personal experience in the world of climbing, son inputs amounting to develop the profession. Knowing firsthand climbing, be competitive athlete or elite, be champion of the world ... It all adds to the time to transmit knowledge to all those who start in this world or who already know but want to enter the world of training.
